2022 NFL mock draft: Spencer Rattler leads fascinating QB class
2022 NFL mock draft: 9th pick
The Carolina Panthers, in the Matt Rhule era, have opened up each of their first two draft classes with premier talents on the defensive side of the football in the SEC.
This selection of Christian Harris is just par for the course.
In 2020, the Panthers took Auburn defensive lineman Derrick Brown. In 2021, they used their top pick on South Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn.
Here they get a stud to go right in the middle of the defense and a playmaker on Alabama’s defense who certainly knows how to fill out a stat sheet.
In his first two seasons with the Crimson Tide, Harris has 140 total tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, an interception, and three pass breakups.
The Panthers’ current depth chart at linebacker actually includes fellow Crimson Tide linebacker Christian Miller, but the starting three with Denzel Perryman on the inside could be upgraded after this season.
Harris is a fluid athlete with the ability to play in space as well as attack the line of scrimmage, as evidenced by a ridiculous number of TFLs.
