2022 NFL mock draft: 7th pick

Desmond Ridder. 7. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. QB. Cincinnati. player. 28

Up to this point, this 2022 NFL mock draft scenario has been slightly “chalk” up to this point depending on what your thoughts are between Spencer Rattler and Sam Howell as prospects.

This selection could be considered the first big “surprise” of the scenario with Desmond Ridder going to the Las Vegas Raiders.

This guy is as impressive as you will see running the football from the quarterback position.

Through three seasons at Cincinnati, Ridder has 57 touchdown passes compared to 20 interceptions. He’s added 22 rushing touchdowns and has established himself as one of the more underrated dual-threat quarterbacks in the country.

Although his completion percentage rose last season to over 66 percent, Ridder has had some accuracy issues and will need to prove he can consistently make big-time throws to all levels of the field before this draft prophecy comes to pass.

Still, the raw talent is undoubtedly there for Ridder and while his accuracy has not been consistent in three seasons on the whole, he has shown the ability to put perfect touch and velocity on his throws as well as excellent ball placement on many big-time throws.

By the time he gets to the 2022 NFL Draft circuit, Ridder will have been a four-year starter as well, which a team like the Raiders might really value.
