2022 NFL mock draft: 4th pick

player. 30. CB. LSU. Derek Stingley Jr.. 4. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Everyone had a great 2019 season for the LSU Tigers, it seems, but Derek Stingley Jr. really was a star among stars on that legendary squad.

With six interceptions as a freshman along with 15 passes broken up, Stingley established himself as one of the elite players in all of college football in 2019 and came back with a somewhat up-and-down 2020 season with no interceptions and five passes broken up in seven games.

If Stingley can get back to his 2019 form, he’s got a chance to be this high of a selection in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The New York Jets obviously have needs all over the roster even after a really strong 2021 NFL Draft class led by quarterback Zach Wilson and left guard Alijah Vera-Tucker.

New head coach Robert Saleh has done a tremendous job as a defensive assistant in his coaching career to this point, not only maximizing the talent of the guys he’s working with on the field but getting the best out of young players.

Stingley is of the blue-chip variety as a prospect and has all of the physical tools, savvy, ball skills, and everything in between to be a success in the NFL.
