2022 NFL mock draft: Spencer Rattler leads fascinating QB class
2022 NFL mock draft: 21st pick
There was some thought prior to the 2021 NFL Draft that the Dallas Cowboys could wind up taking an offensive tackle like Rashawn Slater or Penei Sewell with the 10th overall pick if they were available.
Jerry Jones loves a good value on the offensive side of the ball in the NFL Draft and, to his credit, he stuck primarily to the defensive side of the ball when that was always the wise move.
In the 2022 NFL Draft, however, I don’t think Jones would pass on the chance to get a guy like Mississippi State’s Charles Cross if presented with the opportunity.
We’ll have to see how much Cross improves in the 2021 season, but he is one of the nastiest finishers at left tackle in college football right now, and as a former five-star prospect is absolutely loaded with ability.
Tyron Smith is not getting any younger out there and even if you can rely on him as a bookend, the Cowboys had to deal without La’El Collins all of the 2020 season.
We’ll see what happens in 2021 with both of those guys expected back, but Cross would probably be too good to pass on if this scenario comes up a year from now.
