2022 NFL mock draft: 2nd pick

Kayvon Thibodeaux. 2. player. Scouting Report. EDGE. Oregon. 50. Pick Analysis

As excited as the Detroit Lions were to get Oregon left tackle Penei Sewell in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, they might go absolutely bananas if they are able to get his Duck teammate Kayvon Thibodeaux in the 2022 NFL Draft.

A five-star recruit, Thibodeaux was an instant superstar on campus at Oregon in the 2019 season, which featured other top prospects like obviously Sewell and Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert.

As a side note, maybe that’s the reason Herbert went back for the 2019 season…

With so many talented Ducks prospects coming about in recent years, it’s possible that Thibodeaux is the best one to come along.

As a true freshman, he dominated to the tune of 35 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, nine sacks, a forced fumble, and three passes broken up. This guy went out there in 2020 and put some of his best stuff on tape against USC and first-round tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker, who was the 14th pick to the Jets in April.

This guy is tough, physical, he has rare length at the defensive end position, he closes on the quarterback, and leaving him one-on-one is going to get your quarterback destroyed. He hits with a purpose.

The Lions will love this dude and if this situation presents itself, it would be surprising if they passed on him.
