Washington Football Team: Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas

Round 2, 51st Overall

The Washington Football Team had too good of a season to be in the mix for a quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft, but with Ryan Fitzpatrick at the helm, they should be fine. Also, out of all the NFC East teams, they had the best draft, making it much harder to decide their best pick.

Wide receiver Dyami Brown gets a mention here, especially because he brings the deep threat element to that passing game. He will mesh really well in a young trio with Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel.

However, their best selection came with great value attached. Getting a rare athlete, especially at tackle, at the 51st overall selection is insane. Texas’ Samuel Cosmi brings tantalizing upside to the table, and it’s a wonder how he stayed on the board as long as he did.

Cosmi has the athletic tools to succeed at tackle and will be able to mirror rushers in pass protection. He also brings power to the table and isn’t afraid to finish by putting defenders on the ground.

While there is some depth at tackle already in Washington, Cosmi has the chance to start right away on the right side and eventually become the team’s franchise left tackle in the future.
