Pick Analysis. Tight End. SMU. Kylen Granson. 127. Scouting Report. player. 46

There was plenty of talk in the offseason about the Indianapolis Colts adding more to the tight end room. With Jack Doyle taking the role as the primary inline tight end who brings a well-rounded game, and Mo Alie-Cox still finding his way (also a free agent after 2021), there was hope of finding a move tight end in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Kylen Granson didn’t get much hype in the draft class because of his specific role, but he’s a perfect fit as an H-back/move tight end for the Colts. While a bit undersized, Granson displays plenty of straight-line speed and acceleration in space. He will be able to contribute with touches in the quick passing game and can succeed with reps in the slot. He also does a good job producing at the catch point despite his size. Granson competes as a blocker and can be used to chip when necessary.

It does take time for tight ends to grow and develop into starters in the NFL longer than any other position, but Granson is the type of receiving tight end who can help early on in his career.

Obviously, when grading the pick, seeing developmental tackle prospects still on the board hurts, but considering the Indianapolis Colts wanted a player like Granson, this is a good pick here in the fourth.
