The Dallas Cowboys were, pretty much all offseason, expected to go with a cornerback with their top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

After selecting Micah Parsons, the focus shifted to the second round and what cornerback prospects could be left on the board in a fairly deep class.

As Dallas watched the board thin out yet again a little bit quicker than anticipated in round two, they probably held their breath a bit waiting for their second-round pick where a couple of really solid players were left, including Kelvin Joseph.

The former LSU transfer has outstanding speed and ball skills, two traits that will likely endear him to Dallas Cowboys fans sooner rather than later.

In just nine games last season, Joseph picked off four passes and returned one for a touchdown. His lack of experience may come into play but getting the opportunity to play in Dan Quinn’s defense, Joseph should excel in Quinn’s scheme which is a lot of Cover 3 and zone responsibilities for cornerbacks.

Despite Joseph only having really one season of production at the college level, the Cowboys must be confident he can step into a prominent role in 2021.
