NFL Draft 2020: Complete first-round re-draft after rookie year
Actual 2020 NFL Draft Pick: C.J. Henderson, CB
Tua Tagovailoa was certainly under strong consideration here, but it is hard to get too excited about him after last season. I still believe in Tagovailoa as a franchise quarterback in the NFL, but this still feels a touch too early. Instead, the Jacksonville Jaguars tap into the depth of this wide receiver class with the selection of CeeDee Lamb.
Lamb was fantastic for the Dallas Cowboys last season, displays immediate playmaking ability out of the slot. The injury to Dak Prescott hurt his ability to produce down the stretch, but Lamb is clearly an impact player who has a bright future in Dallas. He is undoubtedly worthy of being considered in this range.
Actual 2020 NFL Draft Pick: Jedrick Wills Jr., OT
With all of the premier offensive tackle talent off of the board, the Cleveland Browns are forced to go in a different direction with this pick. It took Derrick Brown a bit of time to get acclimated to the NFL games, but when he hit his stride last season, he looked like a beast for the Carolina Panthers. He is a big and powerful run stuffer who showed more ability as an interior rusher than expected as a rookie.
Actual 2020 NFL Draft Pick: Mekhi Becton, OT
The New York Jets nailed their selection of Mekhi Becton in the 2020 NFL Draft but again, all of the premier offensive tackle talent is off of the board for them here at No. 11. L’Jarius Sneed came in and made an immediate impact for the Kansas City Chiefs last season, making plays all over the field as a fourth-round rookie.
Sneed is a talented cornerback who shows the ability to make plays all over the field. In any re-draft scenario, he would undoubtedly be a first-round selection.
Actual 2020 NFL Draft Pick: Henry Ruggs III, WR
Henry Ruggs III has speed for days and showed some upside as a rookie with the Las Vegas Raiders. That being said, he is a bit of a one-trick pony who needs to grow as a route runner to ever reach his ceiling. In this re-draft, the Raiders opt for the more well-rounded wide receiver in Brandon Aiyuk.
Actual 2020 NFL Draft Pick: Tristan Wirfs, OT
Not having Tristan Wirfs would be a devastating loss for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They absolutely nailed that Wirfs pick at No. 13 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, just like they did with Antoine Winfield Jr. in the second round. Winfield was an important part of their dominant defense in their Super Bowl run and picking him back up here would make sense with Wirfs not being an option.
Actual 2020 NFL Draft Pick: Javon Kinlaw, IDL
The slide of Tua Tagovailoa finally ends. As you know, the San Francisco 49ers spent major resources in their trade up for Trey Lance with the third overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. In this scenario, the 49ers can save their future draft capital because they already have Tagovailoa on board.
Tua was less than impressive last season, but he is still a smart and accurate passer who controls where the ball is going extremely well. Tagovailoa will grow into a dominant short-to-intermediate range thrower and can hit the deep ball as well. Stick him into a Kyle Shanahan offensive attack and the sky is the limit.
