As you can see, all I really did with the Jags’ draft haul is allow the team to find better value throughout the draft. In this re-draft scenario, they address the same exact positions, just filling their needs with better talent overall.
The real sin of this draft class was reaching on Etienne in the first and Little in the second. As you can see in this re-draft scenario, if the Jags would have just been patient at the position, they could have found better value. If Gainwell was their running back selection and Smith was the offensive tackle addition, they would have still addressed those spots with interesting players, but allowed themselves to improve at other spots.
In the end, nothing is more important than nailing that No. 1 overall selection, which the Jacksonville Jaguars undoubtedly did. That being said, they had an opportunity to significantly improve the depth and overall upside of this roster and failed to do so in an efficient way.
