Jacksonville Jaguars re-draft: Fixing their 2021 NFL Draft haul
Round 2, 33rd overall
Actual pick: Tyson Campbell, CB, Georgia
With an obvious need at the safety position, Trevon Moehrig was connected to the Jacksonville Jaguars many times throughout the 2021 NFL Draft prospect. Despite him still being on the board at No. 33, the Jags opted for help at the cornerback position. With Jacksonville already addressing cornerback in this re-draft, they can attack their safety need earlier, snagging Trevon Moehrig here at No. 33.
Moehrig is the best safety prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft class. He shows tremendous natural instincts and ball skills on the back-end, seemingly always finding his way to the ball no matter the situation. He displays tremendous on-field awareness and has exciting upside as both a man and zone coverage defender.
Make no mistake about it, Moehrig would have been a nice value pick in this range and could have immediately helped take their defensive attack to the next level.
Round 2, 45th overall
Actual pick: Walker Little, OT, Stanford
The Jacksonville Jaguars reached big time when they took Walker Little at No. 45 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. Little was a five-star prospect who showed exciting upside at left tackle early in his college career, but injuries held him back in recent years and it is difficult seeing him coming in and making an immediate impact.
Instead of reaching on Little, the Jacksonville Jaguars find value at an obvious position of need in this re-draft, snagging Penn State tight end Pat Freiermuth. Freiermuth is an extremely well-rounded tight end prospect who undoubtedly has exciting upside at the next level. Having him around as a security blanket for Lawrence early in his career would have been a strong move.
