2021 NFL Draft: Recap and analysis of every pick for all 32 teams
1 (6): Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
Though Waddle is much smaller than you typically see drafted in the top-10 picks, he’s the most explosive player in this draft when he’s healthy. His best at Alabama was Tyreek Hill-like.
1 (18): Jaelan Phillips, EDGE, Miami
If he’d gone another year at Miami doing what he did in 2020, Phillips might have been a top-10 pick in the 2022 Draft. He’s got big-time upside and the Dolphins will waste no time using him off the edge. He’s got a well-rounded game.
2 (36): Jevon Holland, S, Oregon
After picking off 9 passes in his first two seasons at Oregon with 19 pass breakups, Holland opted out of the 2020 campaign. He was still one of the most highly coveted safeties who also has the ability to play nickel at the next level.
2 (42): Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame
The Dolphins went after Eichenberg in the second round after there were some rumblings he could be off in the top 32 picks. There’s no question that Eichenberg can plug and play at the next level. Along with last year’s top picks Austin Jackson and Robert Hunt, Eichenberg should thrive in Miami.
3 (81): Hunter Long, TE, Boston College
Long was a breakout player in 2020 at Boston College catching 57 passes. He’s got strong hands and can give a nice contrast stylistically to Mike Gesicki for the Dolphins.
7 (231): Larnel Coleman, OL, Massachusetts
Coleman is a very strong athlete with a tremendous wingspan and starts at both left and right tackle.
7 (244): Gerrid Doaks, RB, Cincinnati
At nearly 230 pounds, Doaks is a big running back who means business in pass protection. He had only 331 carries at Cincinnati, so he comes to the Dolphins pretty fresh.
