2021 NFL Draft: Recap and analysis of every pick for all 32 teams
1 (26): Greg Newsome II, CB, Northwestern
Greg Newsome should have been in the discussion among the best cornerback prospects in this draft. Ultimately, he remained one of the best-kept secrets which was to the Cleveland Browns’ benefit.
It’s hard to imagine a better value this late in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
2 (52): Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame
I thought there was a legitimate chance Owusu-Koramoah would go inside the top-20 picks in this draft, but ultimately, perhaps teams were scared off by his size for an off-ball linebacker. A smart defensive coordinator will find a way to make this guy a household name for his coverage instincts and versatility.
3 (91): Anthony Schwartz, WR, Auburn
Schwartz has elite long speed and gives the Browns’ offense yet another weapon in the vertical passing game. Odell Beckham Jr. will be back from injury this season and Schwartz is a guy who can open things up for everyone with his ability to blow the top off of a defense.
4 (110): James Hudson, OT, Cincinnati
A converted defensive lineman, Hudson will have the necessary time to continue developing behind the tremendous starting five in Cleveland.
4 (132): Tommy Togiai, DL, Ohio State
Tommy Togiai was a very nice value here in the fourth round for the Browns, getting a second-straight in-state prospect who boasts plenty of power and intriguing traits at his position.
5 (153): Tony Fields II, LB, West Virginia
Another undersized off-ball linebacker, Fields will give the Browns depth at the position and depth on special teams. He was productive at both Arizona and West Virginia, and led the Mountaineers in tackles this past season.
5 (169): Richard LeCounte III, S, Georgia
LeCounte was going to be under-drafted no matter where he ended up going on day three. While there are some athletic limitations here, I think this guy proved on tape that he’s a starting NFL safety.
6 (211): Demetric Felton, RB/WR, UCLA
Felton will be a fascinating fit to watch in Cleveland. He’s shown he can do some things at both running back and receiver. He didn’t test overly well but he plays fast and can be an asset as a returner on special teams.
