2021 NFL Draft: Recap and analysis of every pick for all 32 teams
1 (20): Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida
Dave Gettleman broke his age-old rule of not trading down and actually ended up getting one of the more intriguing offensive weapons in the draft in Florida’s Kadarius Toney.
Toney gives the Giants yet another big-time athlete to go along with their plethora of skill players who are in the top-10 percentile athletically. He has after-the-catch ability and will be an offense creator in the NFL.
2 (50): Azeez Ojulari, EDGE, Georgia
Injuries pushed arguably the best pass rusher in the draft to the second round where the Giants snatched him up.
Ojulari was dominant for stretches this past season and if his knee holds up, this is the steal of the draft.
3 (71): Aaron Robinson, CB, UCF
The Giants moved up five spots in the third round to take the versatile Robinson, who can start immediately for them as the nickel cornerback with Adoreé Jackson coming in through free agency and James Bradberry locking down his side.
4 (116): Elerson Smith, EDGE, Northern Iowa
Another very good pick by Dave Gettleman and Joe Judge, Elerson Smith looks like he will be a factor in the NFL sooner rather than later. The Northern Iowa program also produced a tremendous athlete and prospect in Spencer Brown for this class, and Smith in many ways is his defensive twin with length, speed, and a physical style of play.
6 (196): Gary Brightwell, RB, Arizona
What an interesting pick. There is very little to evaluate with Brightwell who had a very below-average workout, and barely any substantial college production to speak of. He had five fumbles this past season alone. We’ll see how this one works out.
6 (201): Rodarius Williams, CB, Oklahoma State
Williams played a lot of football the past four years at Oklahoma State and broke up 33 passes. He set an Oklahoma State school record with 48 straight starts, showing desirable durability and availability.
