Aaron Rodgers

Two weeks ago it would have been near crazy to put Aaron Rodgers on a list like this, but the reigning MVP has voiced his position and thoughts on the Green Bay Packers and we now are witnessing yet another game of chicken between quarterback and front office. It’s hard to imagine Rodgers hanging up the cleats after arguably his best season, and third MVP, but that’s exactly what he’s threatening to do if he isn’t moved.

It seems like the Packers’ front office will call his bluff, but Rodgers has other things he can turn to outside football. From commercials to hosting Jeopardy and making appearances at the Kentucky Derby, he has a lot going for him outside of the game.

For Green Bay, Rodgers has a potential out from his deal after this season that would result in $17 million of dead cap. While that’s not great, it’s a lot better than the $37 million mark that would come with a move this year.

On the flip side, the Packers do have to start thinking long-term with Jordan Love. His fifth-year option decision will approach rapidly and they need to find out if he can be their next guy. It’s a tough position for sure. While a move shouldn’t be expected anytime soon, it could be on the horizon, especially if things take a dip.
