The Atlanta Falcons threw a significant amount of draft capital at the secondary, which shouldn’t receive any complaints. Isaiah Oliver and Kendall Sheffield haven’t done enough to guarantee a spot on the outside.

Darren Hall is an intriguing defensive back from San Diego State. He’s physical, competitive, and could end up as the starting slot corner at some point during the 2021 season with the temperament and change of direction skills he possesses.

Despite Hall being the potential solution in the slot, it is unlikely he brings the solution to the Falcons’ woes on the outside, something that wasn’t addressed in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Stanford. 114. player. 44. Center. Drew Dalman

After selection Mayfield in the third round, the Atlanta Falcons went back to the offensive line well early on day three, selecting Stanford’s Drew Dalman with the pick they acquired in the trade back with Denver.

Dalman could end up being the long-term solution at center. He will fit seamlessly into the outside zone concepts that the Falcons will want to run, and can hold his own just fine in pass protection. He’s best on the move, where he can reach block, get to the second level, and open up lanes. He’s hyper-aware in pass protection, and while he gives up ground to power rushers on the interior, he can chop his feet to maintain balance.

Getting a potential starter is great at this point in the draft, on top of a scheme fit, is an excellent selection.
