2021 NFL Draft best fourth-round pick: Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions (112th overall)

Many teams were able to find impact value in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, but it is difficult to find anyone who was able to nail their pick as well as the Detroit Lions at No. 112. The Lions entered the 2021 NFL Draft with a massive need at the wide receiver position but remained patient and built through the trenches in the first three rounds.

After building a strong base on the offensive and defensive line, the Lions attack their wide receiver need with the selection of Amon-Ra St. Brown in the fourth.

Nobody would have batted an eye if a team like Detroit would have taken St. Brown in the second round. He is a tough and physical slot receiver who shines as a playmaker in the middle of the field. St. Brown shows the ability to release well at the line of scrimmage, is an impressive natural route runner and shines after the catch. He is an impact player in the short-to-intermediate range and will also step up and make plays deep at times.

Make no mistake about it, St. Brown is a gifted wide receiver prospect who could quickly grow into a strong playmaker for this team. Snagging St. Brown at No. 112 overall was an ideal situation where best player available met position of need for this team.

2021 NFL Draft best fifth-round pick: Shaun Wade, Baltimore Ravens (160th overall)

Shaun Wade was a premier defensive back in college football early in his career, shining as a slot cornerback for Ohio State. He entered the 2020 season as a likely first-round selection, but his move to the outside did not go according to plan. Wade struggled at outside cornerback throughout the 2020 season and it hurt his 2021 NFL Draft stock in a big way.

That being said, Wade could still be an impact player at the next level if he is used correctly, and the Baltimore Ravens will know how to use him. Expect the Ravens to move Wade back inside and play him in some sort of a slot cornerback/safety hybrid role. He is still a long, quick and athletic defensive back who has exciting upside at the next level. The Ravens are a smart organization that will allow Wade to play to his strengths. expect this pick to work out extremely well.
