The 2021 NFL Draft is behind us and before we get too far into next year’s class, let’s take a look back and see who did well this past weekend. It is obviously fun to look at the top of the class, but there was certainly value to be had throughout the 2021 NFL Draft. In this post, we are going to look at the single best selection made in all seven rounds. A surprise move up the board kicks off this list.

2021 NFL Draft best first-round pick: Justin Fields, Chicago Bears (11th overall)

Entering the 2021 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears felt like a franchise stuck in the mud. Missing on the Mitchell Trubisky pick in the 2017 NFL Draft had seemingly set the franchise back in a major way and both general manager Ryan Pace and head coach Matt Nagy felt like sure bets to get fired sooner, rather than later. However, that all changed last Thursday night.

With quarterback Justin Fields falling further down the board than he should, the Bears got aggressive, sending No. 20 and No. 164 in the 2021 NFL Draft and a first and fourth-round selection next year to the New York Giants in exchange for No. 11 overall. After trading up to No. 11, the Bears took Justin Fields, securing their quarterback situation in a big way.

Fields is an incredibly talented quarterback prospect who undoubtedly has massive upside at the next level. He has a big arm, tremendous natural athletic ability and displays pinpoint accuracy to all levels of the field. Fields is a smart and precise passer who is also a dangerous playmaker with the ball in his hands.

Make no mistake about it, Fields is a gifted quarterback prospect who has the ability to turn this franchise around. He cannot do it alone and acquiring him did not come cheap, but the Bears now have hope and Fields is the reason why.
