Five best picks of the first-round of the 2021 NFL Draft

After electing to bring back pass-rusher Shaquil Barrett on a long-term deal, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers opt to continue to invest into the position keeping in mind the not-so-distant contract negotiation with veteran-complement Jason Pierre-Paul.
Needing immediate functional depth at the position though, Tampa Bay needs to not only add a day one impact player who can rotate in on late-down scenarios but also grow into their own as a three-down pass-rusher as soon as their second season.
Measuring in at six-foot-five, 259 pounds, Washington’s Joe Tryon is a bendy outside linebacker with exceptional burst off of the snap. Using his long arms to create space between himself and his blocker, Tryon exceeds the mobility of nearly any opposing tackle with his ability to turn the corner.
Still lacking a full arsenal of pass-rush moves to keep blockers on edge throughout the course of a game, Tryon can develop a more cerebral style of attack with his coaching staff.
Though rushing with power is not a central cog in his plan of attack, Tryon not only has the physical potential to fill out into an edge-setting run defender but has shown his ability to effectively translate speed to power against even the likes of Oklahoma State’s Teven Jenkins, widely regarded as the most physically violent player of the entirety of the 2021 NFL Draft.
