Cincinnati Bengals 7-round mock draft after taking Ja’Marr Chase
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 4, 111th Overall
The Cincinnati Bengals were last in the NFL in sacks in 2020. While they did add Trey Hendrickson this offseason to help with that problem, they also lost Carl Lawson. Hendrickson joins Sam Hubbard as the only two players with pass-rushing production for the Bengals, so adding depth behind those two is necessary in the 2021 NFL Draft.
A player I really like as a fit in Cincinnati is Dayo Odeyingbo. Built in the classic mold of a Bengals edge rusher, Odeyingbo provides a lot of length off the edge shows an urgent first step off the snap. His 5.5 sacks in 8 games in 2020 lead the Commodores and it looked like he was on his way to being a sure-fire top 100 player in the draft. Unfortunately, Odeyingbo suffered an Achilles injury while training back in January and is expected to slide a bit because of it. If he does, I think the Bengals would be all over him on Day 3.
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 5, 149th Overall
After an unproductive collegiate career with the Florida State Seminoles and Georgia Bulldogs, Tre’ McKitty didn’t hit the draft communities’ radar until his showing at the 2021 Senior Bowl. McKitty balled out in Mobile and has been rising up draft boards ever since. He’s got good speed, runs sharp routes, and has excellent length that allows him to high-point with ease.
He’s got all the traits you want in a tight end prospect with none of the production. That could be just enough to have McKitty land in the Bengals lap with the 149th overall pick, giving them a really fun developmental option to add to their tight end room.
