Chicago Bears, Justin Fields, 2021 NFL Draft

The Chicago Bears just landed their new quarterback of the future after trading up nine spots with the New York Giants for former Ohio State star, Justin Fields. The aggressive move cost the team a 2022 first and fourth-round pick, as well as a fifth-rounder on Saturday, but I think time will prove it was worth it.

In almost any other year, Justin Fields would be in consideration for the top overall pick in the draft but the 2021 quarterback class is one of the best groups we’ve seen in a long time, as Fields had to hear three other quarterbacks go before him. The Chicago Bears had to have been frothing at the mouth when Fields started to slide outside of the top 10, as they finally ended his wait by trading up from 20th overall to 11th to get him.

Fields has all of the physical traits you could ever want in a franchise quarterback. He has NFL size, a big-time arm, elite mobility, and can make any throw you ask him to make. Adding Fields to an experienced QB room of Andy Dalton and Nick Foles will give him the luxury of not having to produce right away. He can learn behind two quarterbacks who have a wealth of knowledge of the NFL game and the Bears can take their time with his development.

This was a gutsy move for this football team and now their focus needs to shift to surrounding him with pieces for the future. Let’s take a look at who the Chicago Bears could take with their remaining selections in the 2021 NFL Draft.
