Arizona Cardinals: Rondale Moore brings explosive upside to offensive attack
Led by the young and dynamic Kyler Murray, the Arizona Cardinals already had a fun and exciting offensive attack. Adding Rondale Moore to the mix in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft immediately makes them an even more exciting unit.
Moore struggled with injuries throughout his college career, but when he was on the field, he consistently demanded attention from opposing defenses. His ability to shake defenders in space consistently stood out on tape and helped him make plays on the offensive side of the ball in a variety of ways.
Rondale Moore is a sharp and smooth route runner who easily separates against man coverage and has a knack for finding soft spots against zone. He is able to consistently find space before he has the ball and is an absolutely dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands. Moore has tremendous natural short-area quickness, is naturally elusive in the open field and had the speed needed to take it to the house from anywhere on the field.
The Purdue product is a relatively limited wide receiver prospect whose lack of size will force him to primarily play out of the slot at the next level. Also, while Moore shows dynamic speed, he was never really asked to stretch the field in college. Purdue used Moore a lot around the line of scrimmage. Can he win deep? His speed suggests that he can, but we really have not seen him do it much.
While Moore is not a perfect prospect, he is undoubtedly an exciting playmaker who has massive upside at the next level. The Arizona Cardinals are building their offense on speed and playmaking ability, making Rondale Moore an absolutely perfect fit.
Andy Isabella has gotten lost in the shuffle a bit in Arizona and this pick is likely made with the intention of replacing him. Moore may not be a well-rounded receiver, but he is undoubtedly an exciting player who raises the ceiling of the Cardinals’ offensive attack.
