With the 24th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select running back Najee Harris. Harris is the first running back taken off the board in this year’s draft and was considered by most to be the best player at his position. The Pittsburgh Steelers were dead last in rushing yards and yards per carry this past season, Harris is now expected to be the workhorse for the Steelers to improve that run offense.

Najee Harris is one of the most versatile backs in this year’s draft class. Harris stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs around 230 pounds where he uses his big frame to be a very powerful runner. Najee Harris isn’t just a big bruiser but also worked a lot on his pass-catching ability which he added that to his bag of tricks this past season. Harris has all the tools to be a three-down back at the next level with his size, quickness, agility, and pass-catching abilities.

The most common comparison Najee Harris has gotten through this draft process was former Steeler Le’Veon Bell. The Pittsburgh Steelers have not had much success since Bell left town and hope Najee Harris can bring some production to Pittsburgh. Speaking of production, Harris showed a lot of production last season for the Rolling Tide. On 251 carries Najee Harris had 1,466 yards and 26 touchdowns.

Ben Roethlisberger isn’t getting any younger and this pick will hopefully expand the offense and make them not have to lean so much on the passing game. Harris makes total sense for the Steelers at No. 24 for the Pittsburgh Steelers because of losing James Conner and having such little production in the run game. Overall, the feeling is most Steelers fans are going to love this pick, and don’t be surprised if Najee Harris gets an early workload in the Pittsburgh Steelers offense next season.
