Green Bay Packers: First-round targets in the 2021 NFL Draft
5. Elijah Moore, WR, Mississippi
Last but not least on the first-round target list for the Green Bay Packers is Mississippi wide receiver Elijah Moore. Moore seems to be gaining steam in draft circles and in media circles recently, and for good reason.
Kadarius Toney is still the favorite by many to be the Packers’ selection if they go receiver, but Moore might be the better prospect. Moore’s play speed is undeniable, and it goes beyond his 4.35-second 40-yard dash. He’s a vertical threat in the passing game and can win at every level. His ability to maintain his speed through the catch point and through his route break transitions make him a dangerous threat at the position.
Moore also has the ability to work in a gadget role. His speed makes him dangerous in the open field, and he was used on jet sweeps and took reps in the backfield. LaFleur’s offense thrives on horizontal concepts, and whether it’s in the backfield or over the middle of the field, Moore would fit right in with the Packers if he were the pick at 29.
Of course, the one question is Moore’s size. At just over 5-foot-9 and 174 pounds, he would be a surprise pick considering what the Packers have preferred at the position. But, like with Samuel, he would be worth it.
