2021 NFL mock draft: First-round predictions one last time
One last 2021 NFL mock draft before the madness begins later tonight? Why not? Let’s speculate for the final time.
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 1st overall
Trevor Lawrence has been the projected first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft for years and the Jacksonville Jaguars were the lucky sweepstakes winners. This pairing has been locked in for a while and nothing will change that now. Lawrence will be the guy for Jacksonville and immediately becomes the most important player in the history of the franchise.
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 2nd overall
Ever since the BYU Pro Day, this pick has felt like a formality. Unless they have pulled an elaborate smokescreen, Zach Wilson will be the next quarterback for the New York Jets. Wilson shines as an improviser and feels like a strong bet to be a successful starting quarterback at the next level. Wilson is an ideal fit for the modern NFL and could be the player who finally turns the Jets’ fortunes around.
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 3rd overall
Where there is smoke, there is generally fire. Not many will agree with it, but the San Francisco 49ers are clearly enamored with Alabama quarterback Mac Jones. Spending three first-round picks to move up for a quarterback with seemingly a limited ceiling like Jones seems crazy, but Kyle Shanahan wants who he wants.
Trey Lance could still be the pick here, but Jones stands out as the most likely selection for the 49ers at No. 3 overall.
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 4th overall
The Atlanta Falcons will likely be working the phones, looking for a trade-down partner at No. 4. However, it is difficult to see a trade scenario that makes much sense. Atlanta will likely be stuck at No. 4 and will have an interesting choice to make. A quarterback may be an option and I would not count out the Falcons taking offensive tackle Penei Sewell, but Kyle Pitts stands out as the most likely selection.
Kyle Pitts is arguably the best offensive weapon in this draft class and undoubtedly has massive upside at the next level. Despite their poor 2020 season, the Falcons are a talented team that could legitimately compete next season and adding Pitts to the mix help. Snagging him at No. 4 in this 2021 NFL mock draft certainly makes sense.
