New England Patriots 2021 NFL mock draft: Round 3, 96th overall

LB. Cameron McGrone. 3. player. Pick Analysis. 811. Scouting Report. Michigan

After trading their second-round pick in the move up the board for Fields, the New England Patriots have a long wait before their next pick in this 2021 NFL mock draft. However, they do find good value in the third round, snagging Cameron McGrone, a talented linebacker prospect out of Michigan.

McGrone fits the profile of a modern NFL linebacker, showing impressive range and overall athletic ability on the field. He is a quick and instinctive player who always seems to be around the ball and also shows impressive natural block-shed ability.

McGrone is a tenacious run defender who can defend from sideline-to-sideline and also shows impressive upside as a blitzer. McGrone does not need to work on instincts in coverage but he is undoubtedly a player worth taking a chance on in this range.

New England Patriots 2021 NFL mock draft: Round 4, 122nd overall

DB. Ohio State. player. Scouting Report. 4. 812. Pick Analysis. Shaun Wade

Shaun Wade entered the 2020 season as one of the premier defensive backs in college football and a likely first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. However, this past season did not go according to plan as Wade struggled with his transition to outside cornerback.

While Wade struggled on the outside this past season, he shined as a slot cornerback in the past and could still certainly have a bright future at the position at the next level. The New England Patriots make an investment in Wade as a slot cornerback/safety hybrid and bet on his obvious upside as a defensive back in this 2021 NFL mock draft. Make no mistake about it, Wade is worth taking a risk on in this range.
