Miami Dolphins: Five exciting potential draft-day trades
By Ian Higgins
In a deal encompassing a number of moving parts to get done, the Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, and Miami Dolphins each offload their own quarterback problems onto the next guy in line. In short, Denver gets a quarterback who can responsibly get the ball to elite pass-catchers (remind you of Alabama?), New England pays a small price for a young signal-caller to challenge Newton, and Miami gets to restart their quarterback hunt with the sixth and ninth overall selections. Miami also receives the Patriots’ 2022 first-round pick for starting the chain of quarterback swaps that led to Lock in Foxborough.
Both moving back a handful of slots from their previous positions in the first round, Denver will likely take the best defensive player available at their given position (Caleb Farley?) and New England gets to take their choice of the second-tier of wide receivers in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Able to now get their hands on two top-ten prospects, the Miami Dolphins can not only have their choice of available quarterback prospects at number six overall but can get their choice of either the top three receivers in the 2021 NFL Draft or complete their defense with a high-tier talent such as Penn State’s Micah Parsons. Giving up their third-round selection, this is another strategy that places a focus on nailing their early selections.
