Las Vegas Raiders find value by trading down in 7-round NFL mock draft
Las Vegas Raiders 2021 NFL mock draft: Round 5, 167th overall
Chauncey Golston is a tough and physical defensive line prospect who does a great job of simply doing his job up front. Golston has long arms, strong hands, and he knows how to use them well. Golston controls opposing blockers extremely well, using his length and power well to consistently fill gaps as a run defender.
In Golston, the Raiders find a player who could line up on the edge and shine as a run defender on early downs. He also has the size and quickness needed to kick inside and make an impact as an interior pass rusher on obvious passing downs.
Las Vegas Raiders 2021 NFL mock draft: Round 6, 200th overall
While Cornell Powell struggled to consistently get on the field early in his college career, he is coming off of an impressive final season at Clemson. In 2020, Powell became one of Trevor Lawrence’s premier targets in the passing game, hauling in 53 receptions for 882 yards and seven touchdowns.
Powell is a stout and strong wide receiver prospect who displayed impressive natural route running ability, strong hands and fantastic run after catch ability. His inability to make an impact early in his college career is a bit concerning, but Powell really shined when given the opportunity. The Raiders could certainly use some depth at the wide receiver position and Powell feels like a nice value pick in this range.
Las Vegas Raiders 2021 NFL mock draft: Round 7, 245th overall
With their final pick of this 2021 NFL mock draft, the Las Vegas Raiders add some more depth to their secondary. Tay Gowan is not the most impressive athlete around, but he is a tough and physical player who shows good instincts in zone coverage. At worst, Gowan should be able to provide some special teams value while also providing depth as a zone coverage defender at either cornerback or safety.
