Final 2021 NFL Draft center rankings: Is Landon Dickerson worth the risk?
By John Blair
The 2021 NFL Draft center class has three players who could be drafted in the first three rounds of the draft in Creed Humphrey, Josh Myers, and Landon Dickerson. The class also features a couple of athletic centers that fit well in a zone offense including Drake Jackson and Drew Dalman.
Most underrated center in 2021 NFL Draft: Josh Myers
Ohio State’s Jose Myers is one of the better run blockers in the 2021 NFL and is a player who should be able to develop into a starter in the NFL. To go along with his impressive strength Myers is a smart player who was the leader of Ohio State’s offensive line. He also gets high marks for his toughness.
Most overrated center in 2021 NFL Draft: Michal Menet
While Landon Dickerson very easily could be named the most overrated center he is also the biggest risk among this position group. Due to Dickerson being named the biggest risk Penn State’s Michal Menet earns this honor. While Menet had a good career at Penn State, he lacks the upside to become an NFL starter.
Day three gem in 2021 NFL Draft: Drake Jackson
Drake Jackson has been the model of consistency on Kentucky’s offensive line having started 45 games. While he is undersized he has the athletic ability, grip strength, and intelligence to become a starting offensive lineman in the NFL.
Center who is the biggest risk in the 2021 NFL Draft: Landon Dickerson
While there is no doubt Landon Dickerson has the talent to start in the NFL, his extremely long injury history makes him a very risky first or second-round pick. He had four of his five seasons in college end early due to injury including this past season. Some of the significant injuries he has battled while at Alabama include torn ACLs in both knees and season-ending injuries on both ankles.
