2021 NFL mock draft: 5th pick

Scouting Report. WR. Ja'Marr Chase. player. Pick Analysis. LSU. 5. 56

Bengals GM/HC: Mike Brown/Zac Taylor

Will Joe Burrow be reunited with his college teammate Ja’Marr Chase despite the perception from so many that the Bengals need an offensive tackle?

It sure seems that way, doesn’t it?

Although anything can happen, the buzz around Ja’Marr Chase and the Bengals has only been growing for the past few weeks and even longer than that.

Chase is a special talent who would be coming in to replace Bengals legend AJ Green as well as former first-round pick John Ross III.

Green and Ross are a fascinating microcosm of the volatility of the NFL Draft even at one specific position, but the Bengals have to get Burrow in a position to succeed sooner rather than later.

With former first-round picks Jonah Williams and Riley Reiff penciled in at the tackle positions and a very deep draft for the offensive tackle position in general, the Bengals can afford to make the pick of Chase here because they’re not getting a Ja’Marr Chase in round two.

When you watch this guy in the open field, he reminds somewhat of former Cardinals and Ravens receiver Anquan Boldin. When you watch him at the catch point, it’s hard to believe this guy is not even 6-foot-1.

This guy is as competitive as you will find at the receiver position coming from the college ranks. Every ball is his. He will fit right back in with Burrow and give the Bengals a really fun trio at the receiver position with Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd.
