Saints GM/HC: Mickey Loomis/Sean Payton

Ultimately, it would be slightly shocking if the New Orleans Saints were able to make this selection.

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is just about the ideal matchup defender and he has two years worth of tape at Notre Dame doing a lot of the same things we saw Isaiah Simmons do at Clemson last year at Clemson.

This guy plays aggressively, instinctively, and fast.

He can line up on the defensive line, as an off-ball linebacker, as a safety, or as a nickel defensive back. He can really do it all.

The Saints’ defense took a big step forward after their in-season trade for Kwon Alexander last year. They had to make plenty of sacrifices on the roster this year because of the cap decrease, so Owusu-Koramoah would be a welcomed playmaker for New Orleans’ defense.

You have to think this team is also a potential landing spot for a quarterback in the first round as there is growing buzz that a sixth quarterback — whether it’s Davis Mills of Stanford or Kellen Mond of Texas A&M — could be taken among the top 32 picks.

Drew Brees’ retirement puts the Saints in a state of transition. As strong as the roster was last season, they have had to let some key guys walk out the door and they’ve also got to put a lot of faith in either Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill for the 2021 season.

The Saints will be a fascinating team to watch on draft night.
