2021 NFL mock draft: 26th pick

Virginia Tech. player. Pick Analysis. CB. Caleb Farley. 26. 53. Scouting Report

Browns GM/HC: Andrew Berry/Kevin Stefanski

Any number of players would make sense for the Cleveland Browns here. They could go with a receiver like Rashod Bateman or even another pass rusher after signing Jadeveon Clowney and Takk McKinley in free agency.

The value of Caleb Farley, despite his back injury, might be too good to pass up on.

The Browns have a variety of players on their roster right now that, if they can stay healthy, would probably be big-time assets for them.

Offensively, obviously, the big name is Odell Beckham Jr. Defensively, recent high draft choices like Greedy Williams and Grant Delpit showed star potential in their college careers.

Would the recent injuries to those guys deter the Browns from a talent like Caleb Farley? It’s certainly possible. With that being said, Farley was once considered a no-doubt top cornerback prospect in this class and with his size, speed, ball skills, and playmaking ability, he could potentially feast with the pressure this Browns defensive front is expected to generate.

Farley is a converted quarterback and wide receiver who will not have strapped up in pads for over 600 days by the time he takes an NFL field, but the talent and upside are tremendous.

With Denzel Ward established as one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL right now, Farley could come in and get a lot of opportunities to make plays on the ball as a rookie.

Nothing like a trial by fire after not playing since November 2019, right?
