2021 NFL mock draft: 1st pick

Trevor Lawrence. Pick Analysis. Clemson. 1. player. 52. Scouting Report. QB

Jaguars GM/HC: Trent Baalke/Urban Meyer (1st year together)

The duo of Trent Baalke and Urban Meyer, along with pretty much everyone else on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ staff, enter their first NFL Draft together with quite possibly the easiest decision for a new regime since Andrew Luck came out of Stanford in 2012.

Trevor Lawrence’s game has been put under the microscope and picked apart just like everyone else, but frankly, it’s hard to find a lot of negatives with this guy.

Lawrence may not be quite what Andrew Luck was coming out of Stanford, but he’s been a projected top overall pick since he was in high school. It’s plenty impressive that, in three years at Clemson, nothing he did deterred anyone from that thought.

Lawrence is plenty athletic. He has a much more wiry frame than Andrew Luck or other quarterbacks coming out at nearly 6-foot-6, only 215 pounds, and with less than 32-inch arms.

Built like a Manning with plenty of athleticism and speed, Lawrence’s ceiling is certainly as a top 3 quarterback in the NFL, and that’s why the Jaguars are taking him first overall in this NFL mock draft scenario and undoubtedly in the real 2021 NFL Draft.

The Jaguars finally have a chance to build around a guy at the quarterback position with a very high floor and a chance to be elite sooner rather than later.
