2021 NFL mock draft: 10th pick

Scouting Report. 10. player. Pick Analysis. CB. Alabama. Patrick Surtain II. 123

Beyond the top couple of picks, is there a 2021 NFL mock draft selection you are more…certain about than this one?

The Dallas Cowboys have to revamp their defense and they’re going to have to do it one piece at a time. They brought in some of Dan Quinn’s guys with the Falcons in Keanu Neal (who is transitioning to linebacker) as well as Damontae Kazee.

Surtain is a guy that Dan Quinn is going to be able to rely on as a rookie no matter what he’s asking him to do.

There’s no such thing as a “sure thing” in the NFL Draft, but Surtain is pretty close to it. He has taken some really weird heat for his athletic profile.

How’s this look for you?

Size. Strength. Explosiveness. Long speed. Length. Production. Consistency.

What more are you looking for here?

Surtain earns the right in this mock draft of being the first defensive player off the board, and frankly, that feels pretty fitting for what he accomplished the past three seasons with the Crimson Tide.
