Detroit Lions find stability in 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft
Detroit Lions 2021 NFL mock draft: Round 3, 101st overall
The Detroit Lions appear happy with having Jared Goff take over as their starting quarterback, at least for the short term. Goff undoubtedly has limited upside but he is a solid bridge quarterback who will help provide stability to the franchise. Quarterback is not a massive immediate need for this team but it is a long-term need. With this in mind, the selection of Davis Mills in the third round of this 2021 NFL mock draft makes sense.
Mills is a big and strong quarterback who displays impressive natural arm strength. He throws a nice deep ball and can fit the ball into tight spaces with velocity when needed. Mills also displays good accuracy, especially in the short to intermediate range.
In Mills, the Lions find themselves a high upside developmental quarterback prospect who could theoretically grow into a starter for the team down the line. While mid-round quarterback prospects rarely work out, Mills is a gifted player who is worth the risk in this range.
Detroit Lions 2021 NFL mock draft: Round 5, 153rd overall
David Moore is a big and strong offensive lineman who typically dominates opposing defenders with tremendous power at the point of attack. He is quick off of the ball, displays an extremely powerful initial punch and does a great job of keeping his feet moving through contact.
While size and power are the focus of Moore’s game, he also shows quick feet for such a big man. Moore moves relatively well in space, attacking the second level well. His combination of power and quickness is undoubtedly impressive. At worst, Moore would be a solid depth addition for the Lions but he could certainly jump into a starting role for this rebuilding team.
