Dallas Cowboys 7-round 2021 mock draft: Bolstering the secondary
By Tyler Kirk
As the Dallas Cowboys approach the 2021 NFL season, here is a look at a 2021 NFL mock draft where they add firepower to the defense.
The Dallas Cowboys had a disappointing 2020 campaign that was riddled with injuries. There is a sense of urgency to get things turned around quickly in Dallas as the 2021 season approaches. There is one philosophy in Dallas that has remained the same since the days of Jimmy Johnson, this philosophy is building your team through the draft and sign free agents to fill holes on your team, not the other way around.
As we look into the 2021 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys have 10 total picks and will look to spend most of them on defense. So far the Cowboys have added a couple of key free agents that include Keanu Neal and Damontae Kazee, who played under new defensive coordinator Dan Quinn last year in Atlanta.
The Dallas Cowboys hosted one of the worst defenses in the NFL last year and will look to change philosophies this year and head back to a 4-3 base front. This defense Dan Quinn calls will be playing with a single high safety with a majority of cover-3 type coverages. When you see this defense in 2021 think of the old Seattle Seahawks defense.
In this mock draft, I will be the Dallas Cowboys GM and making selections throughout all seven rounds. I try to address offensive depth while also spending resources on fixing this defense. Let’s go ahead and get started with the Dallas Cowboys’ first-round selection.
