NFL mock draft 2021: Justin Fields, Trey Lance help make history
By Evan Bachman
Anyone who watched the Super Bowl could tell you what the Chiefs’ biggest need is. With both Mitchell Schwartz and Eric Fisher getting released after injuries last year, the Chiefs need to find a tackle in the draft this year.
Jenkins has a lot of experience as he’s logged over 2,500 snaps over his four years at Oklahoma State where he’s shown he’s very capable as both a pass protector and run blocker, making him very worthy of a first round pick.
On a roster with very little needs if any, I don’t think the Buccaneers will necessarily target a particular position group, but instead, take the best player available in this 2021 NFL mock draft scenario. With Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul leading the Buccaneers pass rush, Jaelan Phillips wouldn’t start right away, but he could certainly be a part of the rotation.
Phillips is very talented as the former number one overall recruit in the 2017 class. He originally went to UCLA where he dealt with injuries, which even caused him to briefly retire before coming back to play for Miami, where he had a stellar season.
He showcased an impressive blend of speed (4.56 40 at pro day), quickness, and power to go along with good size at 6-foot-5, 266 pounds. Those types of traits are pretty rare and give up perhaps a higher ceiling than any edge rusher in the entire class.
