Virginia Tech. Caleb Farley. 47. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. CB. 15

I can see the Patriots going a lot of different directions this draft, ultimately I don’t think they target a particular position group and instead just go with the best player available.

Farley has loads of potential and has a chance to develop into a high-level corner.  He has exceptional size (6-foot-2, 207 pounds) to go along with good speed and plus movement skills.

Another reason I’m confident his game will translate to the NFL is that he’s proven himself in a power conference.  He opted out in 2020, but in 2019 he was very impressive in college.  According to PFF, he had a coverage grade of 90.5, 26.8 passer rating against, only allowed receptions on 36% of his targets, picked off four passes, and had nine pass breakups.

If there is a weakness in his game it’s his tackling.  Over his two seasons of starting he’s missed 21 tackles, according to PFF.  Obviously, missed tackles aren’t a good thing, but coverage is by far the most important thing for corners, so it shouldn’t be a big problem.
