NFL mock draft 2021: Justin Fields, Trey Lance help make history
By Evan Bachman
After giving up nearly 30 points per game last year, the Cowboys must address their defense, in particular at corner. Lucky for this class has some very good options at corner with Caleb Farley, Patrick Surtain, and JayCee Horn headlining the class.
From an athleticism standpoint, Surtain is a little behind Farley and Horn, however, he’s still a terrific athlete in his own right. At his pro day, he ran a 4.42 40 yard dash, 39” vertical jump, and 10’11” broad jump.
From a production standpoint, there’s not too much more you can ask for. He’s started since his true freshman year for three years in the best conference in college football and has been one of the best players in the country.
Corner is a tough position to project to the NFL, often times players just struggle to adjust to the game at the next level. However, with Surtain I feel much more confident in his game translating because he’s so technically sound and doesn’t just rely on athleticism.
