With the 2021 NFL Draft around the corner and coming ever closer to the present, how can the New England Patriots complement their free-agent additions with a respectable armory of mid-round assets? In this 2021 NFL mock draft, we look at how the New England Patriots can add to their current roster for a competitive 2021 season as well as procure talented youth for the future of the organization.

With rumors circulating from an interest in a fresh-faced quarterback to trading blanket corner Stephon Gilmore and the one year remaining on his contract, the New England Patriots are primed to carry on their uncharacteristic offseason with the intention of returning to relevancy in the shortest time possible.

With a current leading trio at cornerback of Gilmore, Jackson, and Jones, the New England Patriots have created a blend of personnel who each complement each other’s skillsets and threaten to shut down any given passing offense on Sundays. With two of those three set to be unrestricted free-agents in 2022 and Jones only lasting until 2023, the Patriots need to consider potential stop-gap solutions that will provide valuable depth in the 2021 season and beyond.

After initially being evaluated as one of the top cornerback prospects of the 2021 NFL Draft, Virginia Tech’s Caleb Farley has fallen to the back half of the first round and beyond following a ‘minor’ back surgery correcting an injury sustained while deadlifting. Not expected to have any long-lasting impact on Farley’s aggressive, athletic style of play, teams can’t help but remain cautious.

Reaching ahead of the rest of the field at number fifteen overall, the New England Patriots capitalize on their opportunity in this 2021 NFL mock Draft to get themselves a top-ten talent at a future position of need with a handful of risk.
