3. Marvin Wilson, Defensive Tackle, Florida State

Marvin Wilson is a player that once had first-round hype throughout the draft process last season. After going back to Florida State for his senior season, Wilson lacked production and ended his season early due to injury once again, causing his draft stock to plummet.

Talent has never been the question with Wilson. Formerly the number one defensive tackle recruit in the nation, Wilson broke onto the scene in 2017 and 2018, consistently being disruptive and filling the stat sheet, while playing every game.

As a team captain in 2019, Wilson got off to another great start to the season before suffering a season-ending injury. His production and film were enough to keep him in the first round conversation, but his decision to go back to school may have come back to bite him.

Having torn his meniscus in high school, missing the end of the 2019 season with a hand injury, and most of the 2020 season with another knee injury, NFL teams may be avoiding the talented big man.

On tape, you can see that Wilson still has the traits to excel at the next level. He has an explosive first step (or at least did before his most recent injury), great hand usage, and is a relentless penetrator when rushing the quarterback.

If the Buffalo Bills were able to pair Ed Oliver with a player like Marvin Wilson moving forward, they could end up having one of the most dangerous defensive fronts in the league. Both the upside and the risk are very high with a player like this, but that is a pick teams should be willing to make in the mid-to-late rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft.
