San Francisco 49ers mock draft: Mac Jones leads a deep class
By Kyle Edmond
Round 4, Pick 117
Eventually, the 49ers will take a player that’s from a different school other than Alabama and Ohio State, but the way this edition of the 2021 NFL Draft is going they continue to return to those schools.
San Francisco has a top-heavy cornerback position with Jason Verrett, Dontae Johnson, K’Waun Williams, and Briean Boddy-Calhoun, but depth is a concern with the unit. If there are multiple players banged up, then they could be hard-pressed at the position.
As for Shaun Wade, he was considered a potential first-round prospect at the beginning of the offseason. After playing in eight games this year and not playing up to expectations, his draft stock toppled into the fourth round here.
Like Moses, Wade has a lot of potential and tools in place that make him intriguing for a team like the San Francisco 49ers who want immediate production to make another Super Bowl run.
Round 5, Pick 155
If the San Francisco 49ers are looking for an athletic tight end to pair with George Kittle, then Quintin Morris could be the perfect fit. Morris has a similar skill set to that of Pitts, albeit a bit unpolished, and should be available in the later rounds.
Originally a wide receiver at Bowling Green, Morris moved to tight end prior to the 2019 season and played two seasons at the position. Over those two years, Morris totaled 897 receiving yards on 75 catches with four touchdowns. He also had seven touchdowns as a wide receiver in 2018.
Having the athleticism of a wide receiver, but the build of a tight end opens a lot of possibilities for Morris in San Francisco. He needs to work on his blocking a bit, but learning from Kittle would be a great spot.
