3. DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama

Just a few months ago, it would have seemed impossible for DeVonta Smith to go anywhere outside of the top six picks of the 2021 NFL Draft. However, after the huge trade between San Francisco and Philadelphia that saw the Eagles move all the way back to twelve, Smith suddenly seems getable right around that fringe top-ten range.

The Chicago Bears don’t have much depth at the wide receiver position, and when you factor in the report that the team is shopping Anthony Miller, then it becomes arguably their most pressing need heading into the 2021 NFL Draft.

If they decide they want to make a move up for a pass catcher, I think Devonta Smith should be the guy they target. The 2020 Heisman Trophy winner was unbelievable at the college level, finishing his career with more receiving yards and touchdowns than any receiver in SEC history.

He’s a dynamic route-runner that just seems to always be open. He’s got plenty of speed, soft hands, and a deep bag of releases at the line of scrimmage.

The Chicago Bears rely on Allen Robinson far too much, so adding a player with the play-making ability of Smith could open up their offense a little bit more in 2021. It all depends on how the board falls but if Devonta Smith is still sitting available after the top 10, the Bears should be on the phone.
