2021 NFL Draft needs for well-rounded Buffalo Bills roster
2. Cornerback
The Buffalo Bills undoubtedly have one of the best young cornerbacks in the league with Tre’Davious White. While the team has found some decent supplements for their star corner, they could turn to the 2021 NFL Draft to find another true lockdown corner to pair with White.
Veteran Josh Norman provided the Buffalo Bills with some solid corner play as a free agent signing last offseason, but Norman’s time in Buffalo was better known for getting stiff-armed by Derrick Henry than his effectiveness in coverage.
With Norman’s one-year contract up, the Bills will likely be moving on, leaving them with Levi Wallace, Taron Johnson and Dane Jackson to pick up the slack. While Johnson had some splash plays, including the 106-yard pick-six of Lamar Jackson, seen below, he is more of a nickel. And while Wallace has shown that he can hold his own on the outside, I don’t think he’s viewed as the long-term pair for White.
Whether it is with the 30th pick or in the second or third round of the NFL Draft, I think it would be smart for Beane and McDermott to take a stab at finding a long-term option at corner, forming that dynamic duo with Tre’Davious White to dominate for years to come.
