NFL mock draft 2021: 49ers snag Mac Jones; Broncos trade up for QB
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 24th overall
The Pittsburgh Steelers are always a difficult team to predict in the draft and this year is no different. They have major needs across the offensive line and in the secondary but have been connected to running back Najee Harris a ton. Harris is certainly an option here but filling a need with a high-value player makes more sense. With the 24th pick of this NFL mock draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select Greg Newsome II, a cornerback prospect out of Northwestern.
Newsome has nice size at the cornerback position and moves well for a bigger player. He is a smooth and explosive cornerback who attacks the ball well in the air and can make an impact as both a man and zone defender. Snagging him here at No. 24 feels like an ideal situation for Pittsburgh.
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 25th overall
Trevon Moehrig is an athletic and rangy safety prospect who shows a ton of upside as a single-high defender at the next level. He has a knack for making plays on the ball and would undoubtedly be a valuable addition to the Jaguars’ secondary. The Jags have a ton of interesting young talent on the defensive side of the ball and Moehrig could be the guy who puts them over the top.
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 26th overall
Christian Barmore has been getting some hype in recent days and could easily be gone by the time the Cleveland Browns go on the clock. That being said, the interior defensive line is not typically looked at as a high-value position and that could cause Barmore to slip a bit.
Barmore displays a great combination of size, power and athleticism that allows him to make an impact up front in a variety of ways. He is quick off of the snap, powerful at the point of attack and has a knack for creating penetration as a one-gap player. The Browns will likely be looking to add an impact defender at No. 26 and Barmore certainly fits that criteria.
