Las Vegas Raiders land impact rookie starters in 2021 mock draft
Not satisfied with just two first-round picks from this class, the Las Vegas Raiders go all-in, sending a 2022 second-round pick and maybe something else to sweeten the pot to the Miami Dolphins for the 50th overall pick in this draft.
With that selection, the Raiders take Iowa’s playmaking defensive tackle Daviyon Nixon, who had a breakout campaign in 2020.
Nixon was one of the most dominant players on the field anytime Iowa played in the 2020 season, showing off his outstanding versatility to play all over the defensive line while being productive n matter where he lined up.
At 6-foot-3, 313 pounds, Nixon has tremendous length (35 1/8 inch arms, nearly 84-inch wingspan) and he utilized it in his pass rush arsenal.
In addition to his explosiveness off the ball, Nixon utilized his length to disrupt passing lanes, dismiss offensive linemen’s hands, and finish plays in the backfield.
I think despite only having one season at Iowa as a full-time starter, this guy is being slept on as one of the best defensive linemen in a class that seems relatively weak in that category.
