Remaining Day 3 Picks

6. Alaric Jackson, OT, Iowa

The Denver Broncos really like former undrafted free agent Calvin Anderson as their primary backup offensive tackle, and possibly even as a starting option if/when the team moves on from free agent bust Ja’Wuan James.

With that being said, Elijah Wilkinson bolted this offseason for the Chicago Bears so the Broncos could be in need of a player who projects with guard/tackle versatility at the next level. Alaric Jackson fits that description perfectly.

7a. Ihmir Smith-Marsette, WR, Iowa

Ihmir Smith-Marsette is way too intriguing of a playmaker to go in the seventh round of the draft, in my opinion, but in a class that is loaded at receiver, anything can happen.

Because of his value offensively and on special teams, Smith-Marsette could push someone off the roster in Denver.

7b. Tay Gowan, CB, UCF

More depth for the secondary in a guy who played sparingly but was just about dominant when he did play. Gowan has tremendous ball skills and got his hands on the football no matter if he was playing at the JUCO level (six picks) or at UCF (two more INTs).

7c. Zach Davidson, TE, Central Missouri

The Broncos released veteran Nick Vannett and they’ve let other depth guys like Troy Fumagalli and Jake Butt walk in free agency.

They could look at tight end much earlier than this given the fact that Albert Okwuegbunam is coming off of a torn ACL.

Zach Davidson is fun because not only does he have NFL traits and tape at tight end, but he was also his college team’s punter.
