Denver Broncos mock draft: Trey Lance leads 7-round haul
Even after signing Ronald Darby and Kyle Fuller in free agency, the cornerback position could be addressed by the Denver Broncos.
Bryce Callahan has not proven himself capable of staying healthy in recent years. Essang Bassey is also coming off of a season-ending ACL injury, as is fellow nickel project Duke Dawson.
The Denver Broncos had such a bad year for injuries as a team in 2020, but no position group was more snake-bitten for this team than the cornerback spot.
Ambry Thomas looks like a future stud in the nickel at the NFL level and he would be a nice value here in round for as the Broncos continue a little run on defensive players.
Thomas’ overall size profile and length are nice, and he’s got explosive speed, running a 4.4-flat at the Michigan pro day.
Adding him into the mix of this Denver Broncos secondary would be a lot of fun and I don’t think he would be limited to the nickel role at the next level, either. He could also line up as an outside corner.
