Cleveland Browns mock draft after Jadeveon Clowney signing
With their first of two very close picks in the third round, the Cleveland Browns go with a local product in Pete Werner.
Werner doesn’t get quite the same hype as some of his peers in the Ohio State defense, but this guy is a fascinating prospect in his own right.
He was a three-year starter for the Buckeyes’ defense with 13 pass breakups, four forced fumbles, and 15.5 tackles for loss in that timeframe.
This guy does everything asked of him in coverage, he doesn’t make many mistakes out there, and he’s very athletic. He’s got some intriguing three-down potential at the next level.
Speaking of third down, the Cleveland Browns continue to add to their pass rush with Quincy Roche here in the third round.
After three really good years at Temple, Roche transferred to Miami and continued to do what he does best — apply pressure to the quarterback.
Despite being somewhat undersized off the edge, Roche does a good job of holding his ground against the run and in the Browns’ context, I think he would be tremendous as a fourth/developmental option as a pass rusher. Jadeveon Clowney only signed for one year, and the investment in Takk McKinsey was also short-term.
