Look out, Kansas City — the Cleveland Browns are coming.

The Cleveland Browns finished 11-5 last season and were already expected to be even better roster-wise in 2021 with the return of the injured Odell Beckham Jr. along with some key young defensive players, including high draft choices like Greedy Williams and Grant Delpit.

The Browns’ roster improvements didn’t begin and end with players coming back from injury, however.

The team went out and brought in free agent defensive lineman Malik Jackson as well as former first-round pass rusher Takk McKinley, whom the team tried to trade for last season as well.

The Browns made arguably the best value signing of the entire 2021 free agency period when they stole safety John Johnson from the Los Angeles Rams.

In addition to stealing Johnson from the Rams, the Cleveland Browns also brought in his very underrated teammate at the nickel cornerback spot Troy Hill.

Inside linebacker Anthony Walker joined the Cleveland defense in addition to all of the other guys, but the Cleveland Browns remained interested in upgrading their pass rush. And they were thinking big.

To bookend Myles Garrett, the Cleveland Browns have signed fellow former number one overall pick Jadeveon Clowney, formerly of the Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks, and Tennessee Titans.

The good news for the Browns is, Clowney is a big-name player who can still get pressure on the quarterback. The bad news is, Clowney has as many new teams as he does sacks since the start of the 2019 season.

The Browns are banking on Clowney being a productive bookend for Garrett, and reasonably so. They’ve invested (up to) $10 million in bringing this guy in, so he should be expected to notch no fewer than eight sacks this season, especially with all of the attention Garrett commands.

How will Cleveland, the hosts of the 2021 NFL Draft, supplement all of their offseason moves?

Let’s take a look.
